So much for trying to write every day or so... It's been roughly 20 days since my last posting. I do apologize for that.
I'm at work right now. WSMC has been my residence for about 70 hours the past two weeks, but luckily Steven will be replacing me tomorrow. I'll finally get some Christmas break.
I survived all my Christmas concert appointments this season! The two shows of Bach's Magnificat went well. There was a little trouble with the microphones the first night, but Sabbath afternoon went well.
Sabbath morning I went down to Dalton SDA church to sing with Collegedale Academy's choir. It was a blast getting to sing with my old friends again. I've been helping with CA's men's chorus, and we performed We Three Kings (in which I sung probably just a little too loud). Kevin Fox, Daltry Martin and Devon Ransom were the soloists, and I thought they all did a wonderful job. They just need a little bit more confidence.
There was another show of that Christmas concert that Sunday night in CA's auditorium. According to Mr. Lauritzen, the only things that sound good in that room are handbells. I was in the choir, but I thought everyone did a good job. Emily got after me for singing with CA. She wants me to "move on." I don't know why I should. High school was the best four years of my life.
Earlier Sunday afternoon, in fact it was at 2:00 PM, I was lucky enough to be a part of the mass choir who sang the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah in the Hamilton Place Mall. Click here to be redirected to YouTube to watch us. My mom was with us and she tried to sing, but she couldn't. Dad asked on the way home if it was because it was her kids performing or because it was an "every knee shall bow" moment. She said it was probably a little of both.
I've only got one more concert to tell you about, but I think it's my favorite. December 14, 2010, I made my debut as a conductor. I lead a bell choir, children's choir, piano and soloist in singing O Come, All Ye Faithful. Mom couldn't come down, but dad was there and was dutifully recording it. I was so proud of my kids, and I wish I could continue to go down to Dalton to teach them, but unfortunately my class schedule wouldn't allow for it. One of my kids (I'm bad with names, so I don't know who it was) came up to Mrs. Lauritzen while we were chatting after the concert and asked if he could do bells next semester because he really enjoyed it. That's why I'm going into teaching!
Well, as I said before, I'm at work and probably should get going... We don't want any dead air.

A Study in Music Theory
This is my first hymn: Let Us With a Gladsome Light. The words aren't original to me, but the music is. I hope you enjoy it. I wrote it for my Music Theory I final project. I will admit that it needs at least one G#, but I can't have it yet for some reason, so here it is for now.
